Mary K Stone was born and raised in St. Paul, MN, and started playing guitar at age 10 inspired by her older siblings. She took blues guitar lessons from Jerene Jackson at West Bank School of Music in Minneapolis in the early 80's and then moved to San Diego where she formed her first band and began writing songs. She moved back to Minnesota in the mid - 1990's and  became involved with She Rock She Rock as a camper, and then a band coach and guitar instructor. In addition, Mary does voice over work for KFAI Fresh Community radio in Minneapolis. Mary is involved with several music projects currently. In 2023 musician and producer Rob Genadek encouraged Mary to record her original songs. She will be releasing her debut record in August 2026.

Mary K and The Realistix is a Twin cities based band that started as a duo with guitar great Dan Kowalke in 2024, and now includes the talents of Steve Smith on drums and Joe Fahey on bass guitar. The band performs Mary K Stone's original songs as well as timeless rock and blues hits.
